Known as Australia’s cultural portal, Canberra is a unique and interesting place to visit.  It was chosen as the capitol in the early 1900’s and a contest was held to see what the new design for the city would be.  It was won by an American and created.  The city still stands now being great place of meeting and international business for Australia.

Native peoples used to inhabit this place.  There is a strong sense of them still in this place and evidence of their days of life here are abundant.  Just as with the natives in the Americas, the people of this nation were treated poorly and the Europeans that inhabited here hunted all of their food and desecrated their land.  They now have all but vanished leaving this city as a reminder of a time once past.  Now vastly diverse, the city welcomes new guests and tourists graciously.
