Jamaica – Kingston

Jamaica  – Kingston

Located on the southeast side of the Jamaica island is Kinston, the country’s capitol city.  The city is segregated into two main sections.  These sections are ‘uptown’ and ‘downtown’.  ‘Uptown’ is sometimes referred to as ‘New Kingston’.  For a long period of time Kingston was Jamaica’s only city.  It is still the capitol of Jamaican commercialism and cultural heart.  This city is very large, especially for an Island locked city.

When taking public transportation around Kingston keep a good eye on your things.  There is a good chance if you loose sight of your bags even momentarily in Kingston you may not find them or some of your items again.  A lost passport can be detrimental.  This city is beautiful but is more of an adult travel location.  You can take the family, but for a first visit you don’t want to anticipate any problems while the children are with you.
