The boutiques, restaurants, art galleries and museums are found in the Kolonaki area. In the rocky hills of acropolis is situated the ancient city. There are around 200,000 Muslims living in the city. The Olympic game took place at 1906 and then at 2004 at Atlanta. There is a renowned biggest digital planetarium located in Andrea Syngrou and it is the best in the world.

Home to Plato’s Academy and Aristotle’ Lyceum, Athens is the major center for arts, learning and philosophy. It is the birthplace of Socrates, Pericles, Sophocles and many other prominent writers, politicians and philosophers of the ancient world. Athens is widely acknowledged as the cradle of western civilization and the birthplace of democracy due to the impact of its cultural and political achievements during the 4th and 5th centuries BC on the rest of the European continent. Heritage of the classical era of Greece is still evident in the Athens city. There are numbers of ancient monuments, works of arts and places of interests including Parthenon on the Acropolis, which is regarded as the key landmark of early Western Civilization. The city has large number of Roman and Byzantine monuments. Athens was the venue for the first modern-day Olympic Games held in 1896.
