Istanbul city

Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and historically called as Constantinople. There is a natural harbor called as Golden Horn. It is the alpha world city. This city has strong historical background being the capital of the Roman Empire. The historic areas are designated as World Heritage Site in 1985 by UNESCO. Istanbul has humidity through out the year and has moderate heat in summer. The buildings show Ottoman architecture but reflect all predecessors’ empires who ruled Istanbul. The other empires are Roman, Genoese and Byzantine. The city has got various synagogues and historic churches. The buildings of the Roman architecture are more durable than the others. There are numerous medical research centers in Istanbul. This is the best place for medical tourism. The water supply system is the one which was laid at the foundation of the city. The Istanbul archaeological museum is the largest and one of its kinds established in 1881.

Lyon is the third largest city in France. Lyon is recognized as the heritage city by the UNESCO for historic architecture. More international events and students are pouring in day to day. There is a hill called as Fourviere hills where the Romans settled earlier. Along the right bank of river Saone lays the renaissance area. Between the two rivers Saone and Rhone lays the Presq’ile which is the heart of the city. The important event which takes place is the festival of lights. This festival starts around 8the of December and last for four days.

This festival attracts almost all tourist who whish to visit Lyon. There are also other festival celebrated such such as Nuits de Fourviere, the festival of music and drama, Nuits Sonores, Festival of electronic music. Many of the tourist attractions could be reached by foot. All the history of the renaissance period is found in the Old Lyon. Despite these many museums, art galleries, park and gardens is found in the city.

Bologna city – Italy

Bologna is a north Italian city and the capital city of Emilia-Romagna in the Po valley. It houses the oldest university called as University of Bologna. This city has got rich roman heritage with lot of pedestrians on the streets of Via Emilia which is a straight road. The city is famous for enriched porticos and elegant arcades. A shrine located on the top of the hill Guardia is the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca where the image of virgin of St. Luca is believed to be present. It also houses several important churches which has the historic importance with the bible. This city is awarded by the UNESCO as the city of music. This city has also got rich culinary tradition. The renowned is the meat based pasta sauce called as Bolognese sauce. The local people depend mainly on cheese and meat. Bologna celebrates several festivals which could attract tourist all through the year.

Dubrovnik – Croatia

Dubrovnik is situated on the Adriatic Sea cost, a Croatian city. It is one among the UNESCO world heritage site list. The city’s prosperity lie in its maritime trade. The famous festival celebrated is the yearly Dubrovnik Summer Festival which is 45 lays long celebrated with games, live concert and plays. The statue of the patron saint Sveti Vlaho is seen around the city, whose feast is celebrated on 3rd of February. The city has the oldest building called as arboretum which was built in 1492. One of the oldest pharmacy named as Little Brothers monastery streets which was originated in 1317 is still operational in this city. It was commented by George Bernard Shaw that it is the heaven in the world. There is a wooded island called as Lokrum located in the bay of Dubrovnik where the legendary Richard the Lion heart left ashore after ship wrecked in 1192. This city is also famous for the theaters.

Although historically Brussels was a Dutch speaking city but majority of the inhabitants are French speaking and thus both the languages are official. Due to its close proximity to the coastal area, the climate of Brussels is influenced by marine air masses from the Atlantic Ocean. Brussels faces on an average 200 days of rain per year. Brussels is divided into 19 municipalities. Architecture in Brussels is diverse, spanning from the medieval constructions on Grand Place to the modern buildings of EU institutions. Brussels is the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. Main attractions of Brussels include Grand Place, Gothic Town Hall, Basilica of the Sacred Heart, St. Michael and Gudula Cathedral, Laken Castle with large greenhouses, Royal palace and many other museums and historical structures and buildings.

Every year about 26 million tourists visit the city of Rome, which is listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Rome is regarded as the second most attractive and exciting cities in the world. Rome has a typical Mediterranean climate, which is comfortable and pleasant from April through June and from mid September to October.
